Health & Safety Policy – Guaranteed Security (UK, October 2025)

At Guaranteed Security, the health, safety, and welfare of our employees, contractors, clients, and the public are fundamental to the way we operate. As a nationwide security services provider headquartered in London, we are committed to providing a safe, healthy, and legally compliant working environment and to preventing accidents, injuries, and work-related ill health in every aspect of our operations.

This policy is issued in line with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, current UK regulations (including the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999), and best practice guidance from the Security Industry Authority (SIA), HSE, and UK security sector standards as of October 2025.

Our Health & Safety Commitments

We will:

  • Prevent accidents and work-related ill health by assessing and controlling health & safety risks across all activities.
  • Provide adequate training and supervision so employees are competent and confident to work safely.
  • Consult and engage with employees on day-to-day safety conditions and improvements.
  • Maintain safe workplaces and welfare facilities, ensuring sites we staff meet the minimum legal standards.
  • Comply with all UK health, safety, fire and environmental legislation relevant to our work.
  • Monitor, audit, and review health and safety performance for continuous improvement.

Safe Working Environment

We aim to ensure that every workplace we manage or staff is healthy and safe by:

  • Carrying out risk assessments for each site and task, with control measures to reduce hazards.
  • Communicating site-specific hazards, controls and safe systems of work through assignment instructions and risk assessment forms.
  • Ensuring drinking water, toilets, and washing facilities are accessible to all staff.
  • Providing personal protective equipment (PPE) free of charge where hazards cannot be eliminated by other means.
  • Maintaining rest areas where practicable, including seating to reduce fatigue during long shifts.
  • Working with clients to ensure adequate lighting, heating, and safe welfare facilities are available.
  • Ensuring standby arrangements (water, electricity, sanitation) are in place when client utilities fail.

Violence & Lone Worker Protection

Security professionals can face verbal abuse, threats, and assault. We do not accept violence as “part of the job”.

  • All incidents of violence or aggression must be reported immediately to our 24-hour control room; the emergency services (999) must be contacted where there is risk to life or serious injury.
  • Lone worker safety is supported by regular welfare checks, control room contact, and digital reporting systems.
  • Staff receive training in conflict management, personal safety, and incident de-escalation.

Health & Safety Training

Every security officer and supervisor will receive induction and refresher training covering:

  • Site-specific hazards and safe working procedures
  • Emergency & fire safety: alarms, evacuation routes, muster points, and fire warden roles
  • Firefighting equipment: safe use of extinguishers, hoses, sandbags, and spill control
  • First aid awareness: location/use of first aid kits, incident reporting, emergency call procedures
  • Violence & aggression management: recognising, de-escalating, and reporting incidents
  • Manual handling, slips/trips prevention, PPE use, and safe patrol practices

Supervisors replenish first aid kits monthly and verify that all safety equipment is in place and functional.

Emergency Procedures

We maintain clear emergency response plans for all sites we staff:

  • Fire and evacuation routes are communicated, displayed, and practised.
  • Security staff know how to raise the alarm, guide occupants to safety, and liaise with the Fire & Rescue Service.
  • All sites are equipped with incident reporting procedures, including escalation to our 24/7 control room.
  • We ensure secure site closure out of hours — locking gates, tanks, valves, plant and equipment to reduce hazards and unauthorised access. Consultation & Communication
  • Employees are consulted on health & safety matters and can raise concerns to supervisors, our control room, or management at any time.
  • Health & safety updates are shared via assignment instructions, toolbox talks, safety alerts, and digital reporting systems.
  • Safety representatives and managers review incidents and lessons learned to prevent recurrence.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Managing Director – ultimate responsibility for health & safety strategy, policy approval, and resources.
  • Operations Manager – oversees day-to-day implementation, risk assessments, and compliance.
  • Supervisors & Team Leaders – ensure site safety, complete daily checks, and report hazards or incidents.
  • All Employees – follow safe systems of work, report hazards/near misses, and use PPE correctly.

Health & safety duties are fully integrated into our management processes, with regular review by senior leadership.

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Performance is tracked using KPIs, incident rates, training completion, and audits.
  • Lessons learned from incidents and near misses feed into revised risk controls and staff training.
  • Policy and procedures are reviewed annually or sooner if legislation changes or new risks emerge.
  • Guaranteed Security actively pursues best practice beyond legal compliance, aligning with ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems principles.

Our Commitment to Clients & Staff

We work closely with clients to ensure the environments our officers protect are safe, compliant, and well supported. By maintaining robust health & safety systems, we protect our workforce, reduce liability for clients, and contribute to the smooth running of projects and sites across the UK.

This Health & Safety Policy is endorsed by the Board of Directors and applies to all operations undertaken by or on behalf of Guaranteed Security.
